While searching for an upcoming vacation for my wife Rita and recently adopted grandson Lucas (age 5), I determined the best professional guide for our exploration was Greg Faulk, an experienced naturalist with a wealth of knowledge about Yellowstone. I called Greg and shared our family story about Lucas and his background being in 10 different foster homes over a 9 month period – a nightmare. I could sense Greg’s excitement about this unique opportunity to engage another family (ages 5 to 66) in a memorable lifetime experience. He exceeded every ambition we had for the trip.
In the past, I have had the pleasure of experiencing guides on African safaris and visits to the Louvre in Paris, but nothing compares to Yellowstone and the way Greg shared his knowledge of our own masterpieces of nature. While viewing mountain sheep, buffalo, elk and wolves, you actually become part of their habitat as our pioneers once experienced.
Greg is a gentle, kind and loving person; a mentor for all ages. He knows how to maneuver the park, times stops well and encourages you to take your time to photograph and enjoy the park. He introduced Lucas to fly fishing and helped catch his first fish, a cutthroat trout, on the Snake River – a lifetime memory. By the end of our vacation, Greg became a part of our family. I would strongly encourage everyone to use Greg as a guide. We plan to return in the future.
By the way, Lucas is now 10 and thriving as a fourth grader at The Capitol School in Alabama. Greg remembers him on birthdays and at Christmas. Thanks Greg for the memories and your kind spirit!
